Vintage Sheaffer ink bottles had a separate reservoir, known as the 'birds nest' which allowed users to fill their pen effectively even when the level of ink was low in the bottle.  Just turning the bottle over (when the cap was on) would fill the separate compartment.

Today, Sheaffer has revisited this innovative heritage and reintroduced this feature, along with a range of improved inks in more vibrant colours.
